Collector's appeal to farmers amid fodder crisis: Provide dry fodder in your nearest cowshed
Hanumangarh Collector Nathmal Didel has appealed to the farmers of the district amid the dry fodder crisis, in which he has asked the farmers to help them by providing dry fodder at their nearest gaushala. Fidel said that in Kharif-2022, the big farmers of the district should sow at least 1 bigha of their sown area and small farmers should sow green fodder for the cowsheds in a canal so that the livestock of the cowsheds should be dried and green on time. Their lives could be saved by providing fodder. The Collector has written a letter to the CEO, Zilla Parishad, SDM, BDO, Joint Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department, and Deputy Director of Agriculture Department to motivate the farmers of the district through his subordinate staff, Sarpanch, Panchayat Samiti members, etc.
The collector wrote that it has come to his notice that the farmers of the district have collected the fodder of their own needs after getting a good market price of dry fodder, especially tudi, and are selling the remaining fodder, which is in large quantity outside the district. Moving to districts. There are 8.49 lakh cows, buffaloes, and 16 thousand camels in the district, which will require an estimated 13.13 lakh metric tonnes of dry fodder. Due to the shifting of dry fodder especially to other districts by selling dry fodder, it has been reported that in 277 gaushalas operating in the district, there is not enough fodder storage for an estimated 1 lakh 9 thousand 921 animals. It is very important to make timely arrangements for fodder for the livestock of Gaushalas, so the farmers of the district should provide dry fodder in their nearest Gaushala.
Fidel wrote in the letter that due to less availability of canal water and less rainfall during the year 2021-22 Kharif and Rabi crops in Hanumangarh district, the sown area of cattle feed crops has decreased. Due to the high market price of the mustard crop in Rabi 2021-22, farmers of the district have sown mustard crop in place of wheat in an estimated 1.00 lakh hectare area, due to which the production of dry fodder in the district has been less. An estimated 13.21 lakh metric tonnes of dry animal feed is likely to be produced in the 2021-22 crop.
